GOVERNMENT & ADVOCACY

Carol Sparks

Carol Sparks is the first female Mayor of Glen Innes Severn Council in Ngarrabul Country, Northern Tablelands, NSW.

Her passionate voice for community, young people and the environment comes from being great-grandmother, a registered nurse and a volunteer in the RFS for over 20 years. Carol is a member of the Wytaliba community recently devastated by drought and bushfires, where lives, land, homes and the school were lost, along with 85% of the animals and habitat. Before this catastrophic event, Carol successfully put a motion to Council to declare a Climate Emergency.

After experiencing the destruction of the fires Carol is even more driven to demand the government take action on Climate Change.

Carol’s

Perspective

“It is not a political thing — it is a scientific fact that we are going through climate change.“
